Description

Set at the mouth of the Savannah River, Fort Pulaski, now a National Monumnet, was considered invincible in1862. Its subsequent capture by Union troops robbed the economy of the Confederacy. More importantly, it showed how vulnerable such fortifications were to rifled artillery. Black-and-white photos and diagrams illustrate the narrative.
